Dead Horse Point State Park

We reserved our first campsite at Dead Horse Point State Park in Utah. Tulip and George were in the Wingate campsite.

The park has some stunning views of the Colorado River about 2000 feet below the mesa.

The Park got its name from some creepy legend where a group of wranglers corralled some feral horses on this point and then selected a few of the best horses and left the remaining on this point above the river. The gate to the coral was closed and the remaining horses had no way out. Subsequently, the horses perished and hence the name. Egad. The scenery is spectacular and the hike (West Rim Trail) was fun, albeit easy.

We then packed up Tulip and headed to Green River State Park. We would have stayed longer, but, you have to plan well in advance if you want reservations in Moab for Spring Break it seems.

Unfortunately, we had our first mishap. The spot in Green River State Park was very hard to get into and we lost a mirror. One of the trees in this shot, reached out and took out the mirror. A little duct tape later, we are fine, but, it was a little stressful. We enjoyed a nice evening unwinding from the stress of Day 2.
