Kodachrome State Park

We had a 3 hour drive to get to Kodachrome State Park and we elected to take Scenic Highway 12 through central Utah. It completely lived up to its billing and it was remarkable. We went through Capital Reef National Park, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, through Dixie National Forest and thoroughly enjoyed the drive. We will be back through this area to stay sometime in the future. There is so much to see here and so many places to hike.

Our destination was Kodachrome State Park. We arrived and immediately went to our campsite and got setup. It was going to be a very cold night for sure, we had seen a weather report that it would dip below freezing, but, something on the internet said that “no need to worry about freezing water lines in your camper” unless it was below freezing for 24 hours if it was just a dip. We connected the water and turned on the heat and started to enjoy our time offline.

We are not keeping the camper too warm, don’t want to run out of propane. So, bundling up using dog blankets!

Of course, we got up in the morning to find a frozen water hose. Ut Oh! Somehow we managed to unthaw it with some hot water and we were fine. But, we will be much more careful and quit believing everything we read on the internet.

The following day, we went hiking in search of Shakespeare Arch. Unfortunately, in 2019, it collapsed due to some erosion. But, the hike was pleasant. We wrote a limerick to savor the moment.

We also went out to Chimney Rock later that day – It wasn’t so dramatic, but, the scenery was interesting. Dogs loved it, but, we had to cross two cattle guards and that proved challenging.

When I returned to the camper, I captured this lovely shot of Tulip and George with some pretty clouds.

Next day, we hiked the Grand Parade Trail and Angel’s Palace Trail. Neither are hard or long, but, they were pretty.

We are all happy and having fun for now.
The dogs work hard to ensure that Rich gets tied up in the leashes every day!

On the way back to our campsite, we noticed this lovely rock formation and decided to name it Fuck You Rock since it looked like a hand flipping a bird. We are enjoying our time away without internet for sure!
