We left Colorado bound for Florida to pick up Lancelot. Lancelot had remained in Florida while we spent winter months enjoying some skiing and winter fun. We drove our Toad — 2021 Ford Escape — that had been configured to be “towed” behind Lancelot as we moved from place to place. Then, we had a nice small car to hop around the locations better. It was tightly packed and we stayed in hotels until we reached our destination – Largo Florida.
We reached the storage location early, but, unfortunately, the batteries were dead and we couldn’t start Lancelot. It was our first problem. We found a mobile service and within the hour, we had been jumped and were on our way.
Hillsborough State Park
We stayed for 4 nights here and enjoyed ourselves. It was pleasant and we visited with Rich’s dad and began to prepare for our trip.
Suwannee River State Park
We moved north and ended up in another state park in Florida. It too was very swampy and by a lazy river. We walked around a lot but we also encountered some bad weather. One night we were under a tornado watch, but, nothing materialized luckily. We also encountered our first ticks – those little insects that attach to you and then suck your blood. I had four and Rich had four too. Who knows what the dogs had, but, they have some monthly pill that kills the ticks immediately, so it isn’t as big of a concern.
