Moving On To Tennessee

We are moving to Panther Creek State Park in Morristown Tennessee. We decided to take a break from trying to pull the truck with the RV because if it didn’t work, I didn’t want to know. I needed a break! I didn’t want to think about it and I was sure it would work. Our drive time to the new location wasn’t that far and the dogs were happier in the truck. We just moved on.

Panther Creek State Park

We were here for eight nights. It is a lovely park made for walking. There are enormous grass fields where you can play disk golf and we bought ourselves a set. Iris proceeded to destroy our driver within 10 minutes as she would chase it and wouldn’t give it back. Then she poked holes in the disks with her teeth as we tried to wrangle it away from her. We had so many trails to walk here — wooded trails, nicely shaded too. We also had our fair share of rain. We were out walking and on the way back, we were about 2 miles from the RV when the drizzle transformed into sheets of rain. Sunny, Iris and I started running to get back to the RV, but, we were so wet. It was like taking a shower with two dogs. The rain wasn’t that cold and it was fun.

Quick outing at the park

Boating on Lake Cherokee

Panther Creek State Park is adjacent to a portion of Cherokee Lake and Dam. It is enormous by Western standards (59 miles long and 463 miles of shoreline) so we found a company that would rent pontoon boats and allowed us to bring our dogs. We didn’t end up boating on the sunniest day, but, we did enjoy a lovely morning on the lake, cruising around and playing stick on some sandy island.

Preventative Maintenance

We got a new tire! When we arrived, Rich noticed a slit on the side of one of our 6 tires so we worked on getting a replacement. The guy came to the campground and replaced it while the RV was in place. Using the leveling jacks and his truck, he was able to raise one side and replace it. These are expensive tires and we thought it was covered by some roadside insurance. When we went to get the bill reimbursed, we learned that you have to keep the original tire (which weighs 150 lbs and is not going to fit anywhere easily) so of course, useless.

Andrew Johnson Historic Site

One one of the many rainy days, we decided to take a trip to the Andrew Johnson Historic site. I was amused that there was actually a historic site dedicated to this man as he is considered one of the worst presidents in USA History by historians. Trump barely ranks above him, so he must have been awful. Anyway, we decided to check out this site. I must say it was very illuminating and interesting. I learned several interesting points. I still didn’t like him, but, now I had a better understanding of some subtleties of Civil War History from Tennessee. Besides, he vetoed Colorado Statehood.

Visiting with Scott and Nanny

We took a drive to Boone NC to visit friends and had a great day at their place. It was a very chilly day, but, it was an awesome time to visit with them at their house and enjoy their company!

Hooking up the TOAD

When we left Panther Creek State Park, we decided we had to try to hook up the TOAD again. When we did it, we had it all ready to go and I said, hey, let’s just check the brake lights and the turn signals before we get going. OF COURSE IT DIDN’T WORK!!!!! The left turn signal triggered the right lights on the truck! So, we still couldn’t connect. The saga continues — when will it end?
